NANDI 2.0 - Badder and Blacker
| Nandi 2.0
is the latest incarnation of my black K1200RS. This baby is a very spoiled
K12RS, with a built date of 5/1999, and delivery of 11/1999 and ridden
in early 2000. It currently has over 62,000 miles. Its name is Nandi,
named after the famed white bull that lord Shiva (India's most powerful
god) rides upon, in Hindu mythology.
Nandi 2.0 refers to the new incarnation of this bad boy, which includes: new paint job and this time, BMW Black Sapphire Metallic, powder coated rims, passenger grab rail and foot peg brackets. New Remus Genesis exhaust system, with ceramic coated headers and Carbon Fiber canister. New custom for Remus, Rhine West chip. New steel braided brake lines by Melvin. K&N filter. New aluminum speedo rings from Hornig. Stealth and aerodynamic rear seat bag by Z-Technik. New set of black powder coated driving lights by Motolights, running 75 watt bulbs. Newly painted front turn signal lenses and clear, aftermarket lenses all around and many, many more. All installation and service has been performed by the enthusiastic team at BMW of Manhattan Motorcycles. VIDEO

| As a motorcycle
journalist I ride all new bikes from BMW, including the next generation
K machines, such as the K1200S and K1200R, however I really enjoy riding
my K1200RS and now with a chip and proper exhaust system it is simply
amazing. I have had Staintune and Two Brothers on this bike and the best
exhaust system by far is this Genesis system from Remus.
The chip and the exhaust combo is the best set up on this bike yet. The sluggish, 2Bros effect is gone. After over 20,000 miles on 2, Two Brothers canisters, I had come to really hate their system. My bike is now how I remembered it to be before the Two Brothers exhaust. It pulls hard from idle, the freight train torque is back, and the exhaust note is as sweet as 2Bros, in fact it is a little throatier and overall more masculine. This bike really rocks now. Look for more images and a revamped Aftermarket page later. But for now click here. |

" The great thing about it (K12RS) is that the speed of it is so deceptive compare to a lot of other bikes. I was on the freeway and I looked down, I see 115 (I had it for about 3 days) and I thought that it is in kilometers of course, but I looked down again and I said this is not kilometers this is Miiiles. It was like 185km. It is deceptively fast And that's what I like about it, high torque all the time, which is fabulous, it's not peaky at all. It just pulls in any gear I am just impressed with the workmanship of it, it's almost sort of an aircraft spec. Even more so You know there's motorcycle spec, and then there's automotive spec and there's aircraft spec. The thing I like about this BMW is that it's built to aircraft specification As an overall bike I love it, excelling in any one category, there are probably other bikes that might take it. But I don't think if there's any other bike that can do all the things that this can do as well. I think it is the best bike they (BMW) have ever built A wonderful, wonderful bike " -- Jay Leno (Interview with Shahram Shiva, June 2002) Jay

Jay is not the only one loving this amazing machine. BMW K1200RS is the most sophisticated and best kept secret motorcycle being produced in Europe today. Always keeping a low profile, this intercontinental cruise missile, has an uncanny ability of turning into a race bike, as the roads become tighter and more fun. The K1200RS has been winning the hearts of experienced riders from all cycling categories. It can metamorphose from an all out super-sport with 0 to 60 miles acceleration of less than 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph, to a cross-country touring bike. The first gear alone will catapult you beyond the speed limit of most highways in the US, and the silky smooth engine provides one of the most luxurious rides on any motorcycle today. If you are over 30, with only one bike in the garage, travel over 12,000 miles a year and have an affinity for speed and refined European design, then this is the bike for you. |
