EVASION: I have been using Valentine 1 Radar/Laser detector for the past few years. It has easily saved me from a few dozen possible tickets. Even though, 'Instant On' Ka band maybe more common these days, a good percentage of real life encounters with LEOs are with K or Ka bands set on always on. I don't ride out of town without my V1. The directional arrows unique to this unit, point to the direction of the threat, and enable you to find the bogey faster and easier. Generally speaking, radar detectors are useless in cities, don't bother turning them on in crowded areas. These detectors shine, where they are most needed, Major Highways, Parkways and Backroads.
