About the Ride

As you may have guessed by now, these K12RS only rallies are turning out to be so much fun that we just can’t help but to come up with more ideas and excuses to get the bikes and the riders together again.

Talk about a great concept, Marti and Tom Macinski of Standing Stone Vineyards in the Finger Lakes area of New York State hosted our 3rd rally of the season on their property, in Hector, NY, on Saturday and Sunday, August 26 & 27, 2000.

The agenda sounds worthy of the Tuscany region of Italy. We met on Saturday noon at Standing Stone Vineyards, dropped off cases, setup camps, schmooze, and waited until 1:30 or so for all the riders to arrive, then took off for afternoon rides in the preselected roads in the Finger Lakes area. Marti and Tom planned scenic afternoon rides for us, which passed by 2 lakes, through a forest, and the old Watkins Glen Grand Prix Course (dates back to early 1950’s). We met for wine tasting and dinner at Macinski’s own seasonal restaurant, followed by Cuban cigars courtesy of Darren.

Thank you all 22 K12RS's for making the FLR another successful rally for our team. The general consensus is that this was the best one yet. The Saturday night wine tasting, dinner by the lake, the usual camaraderie and story telling was "as good as it gets." And what better way to help make the evening more memorable, than gorgeous Cuban Cigars and this time very generously sponsored by our own wild man from the North Darren Ward. Darren we love you. Add to that the delicious Ice Wine from Standing Stone Vineyards to help wrap up the culinary feast. Marti and Tom were amazingly gracious hosts, they not only offered their home and their property to us but they very generously sponsored all of the wine for the evening. Marti and Tom, thank you.

When I first post my suggestion about a handful of guys getting together for a Saturday ride, never did I dream that we could be creating such memorable events.

This time we had 2 female riders. In addition to the 22 K12RSes we had 2 LT's, 1 S and 1 GS. Once again people traveled long and far to be here, Canada, Ohio, Maryland, Alabama just to name a few.

Thank you all and I hope that these success stories would inspire and encourage you to start a Rally in your neck of the woods. All you need is to set a date and pick some nice afternoon rides and you are good to go. Remember any number of riders more than 10 is a great turnout.
